ICC Code Development Process Changes

The Board of Directors of the International Code Council has substantially revised its Code Development Process to reduce the length of hearings and increase participation. Aside from maintaining the three-year publication cycle and ICC Governmental Consensus Process, the Board of Directors has divided the codes into two groupings (Group A and Group B), with each grouping having Code Development and Final Action Hearings occurring in the spring and fall of the same year during the first two years of the publication cycle.

All Code Development Hearings will be held at the same central location every April/May. All Final Action Hearings will be held at the Annual Conference at locations which will continue to rotate through the four quadrants of the U.S. in late October/early November. The ICC will unveil all of the new codes at its Annual Conference in the third year of the cycle.

ICC Board President Adolf Zubia will provide additional information forums including a Town Hall meeting at the Codes Forum in New Orleans, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, at the Sheraton New Orleans Rhythms 3 Room.
