New Hampshire implemented IECC 2006 with a minimum of difficulty on August 17, 2007. In October, after a public hearing, the NH Building Code Review Board amended the code to configure the state into a single climate zone, Zone 6. As written in the IECC 2006, Zone 6 covers a majority of the state's territory and more closely reflects construction standards under the superseded IECC 2000 code.
The US Department of Energy and PNNL, with incredible speed and precision, created New Hampshire editions of both REScheck and COMcheck. Both may be downloaded through the New Hampshire Energy Code Website where the new versions of the NH Energy Code applications are also available.
To assist builders and designers to integrate the new code requirements into their projects, four each residential and commercial courses were held around the state. Well known energy efficiency engineer Alan Mulak conducted the commercial sessions while BCAP's own Mike DeWein led the spirited residential workshops. The state's regulated electric utilities: Public Service of NH, Granite State Electric, UNITIL and the NH Electric Coop sponsored the classes. Most of the sessions were "sold out". More will be scheduled in the fall.
