Arizona House Passes Energy Omnibus Act

On March 27, 2008, the Arizona House passed House Bill 2766, which establishes energy efficiency goals for residential and commercial construction, schools and state buildings. The bill addresses renewable energy goals for public utilities, engine idling and requires a study of greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, it requires all state agency buildings constructed on or after July 1, 2009 to conform to LEED standards or an equivalent green building rating standard. As of March 31, 2008, it is being considered in the Senate Natural Resources and Rural Affairs Committee.
