New Oklahoma bill proposes LEED for state buildings

A new bill (House bill 3394) would require all new construction and major renovation of state buildings to meet the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standard.  The bill was proposed by State Representative Lance Cargill, R-Harrah, with the primary goal of achieving long-term energy efficiency benefits in state buildings.

The bill passed out of the House General Government and Transportation Committee at the beginning of the March and cleared the House floor with a vote of 98 to 1.   It was signed and sent to a Senate for a first reading on 3/17/08.
