The West Virginia State Fire Commission will hold a public meeting at 1:00 PM (Eastern Time) on June 16, 2009 dealing with the adoption of the 2009 ICC Codes (including the IECC).

The meeting location is the State Fire Marshal's Office at 1207 Quarrier Street 2nd Floor, Charleston, West Virginia. The public comment period (written comments) for the adoption of these codes ends at 4:00 PM on June 16, 2009.

The Montana Building Codes Council will meet 11:00 o'clock A.M (Mountain Time), June 25, 2009, in the basement conference room (room B07), 301 Park Avenue, Helena, Montana, to assist the department with the application, implementation, and interpretation of the state building code and building codes adopted by counties, cities, or towns.

The purpose of this meeting is to consider and make recommendations concerning the adoption of the 2009 IECC.

On February 17, legislation (HB 3550) was introduced in the South Carolina State Legislature that would mandate the 2006 IECC for all new and renovated buildings effective July 1, 2009. Local building officials would be required to enforce the new standards, and alternate enforcers would be provided in areas that do not have building code officials.

As required by law, the Texas State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) published a notice for public comment in the Texas Register on June 5 concerning the 2009 International Residential Code (IRC). SECO will forward all comments received within 30 days (or by July 5) to the Texas A&M Energy Systems Laboratory (ESL), which will make a recommendation concerning the improvement of energy efficiency in single family residential construction under the 2009 IRC compared to the current code, the 2001 IRC.

The U.S. EPA has posted proposed new guidelines for its ENERGY STAR Qualified New Homes program. EPA will accept comments on the proposed ENERGY STAR 2011 guidelines through July 10, 2009. The agency will post a summary of submitted comments soon afterward, followed by EPA's responses and the revised ENERGY STAR 2011 guidelines.
